Terms of Use

These are preliminary terms for an early version of the Help Foster Youth website. They have not been reviewed by an attorney and will be replaced with reviewed terms before a formal public launch.

What Help Foster Youth is — and is not

Help Foster Youth is a directory and information and referral service. We gather publicly available information about programs and organizations that serve foster youth, and about ways other people can support them, and we present it in one place.

We are not the organizations listed on this site, and we do not speak for them. We are not a child welfare agency, a government body, a law firm, a healthcare or mental health provider, a housing provider, a benefits office, a school or a crisis or emergency service. Except where a page clearly says a program is our own, we do not provide the services described here, we do not determine eligibility, and we cannot accept, approve or deny any application or request. Those decisions belong entirely to the organization you contact.

We also do not connect individual adults privately with individual foster youth. There is no account, profile, messaging or matching feature on this site, and adults who want to help are directed to organizations that run their own screening, background checks, training and supervision.

Informational use

This site is offered for general informational purposes: to help people find ways to support children and youth in foster care, and to help youth and families find resources. By using the site you agree to use it for those purposes and in line with these terms.

Third-party resources and links

Organizations listed here are independent of Help Foster Youth, and links lead to sites we do not control. Listing is not endorsement, certification or a guarantee. See the Resource Disclaimer for details.

No guarantee of accuracy or availability

We work carefully from official and primary sources, and we show when a listing was last reviewed. A review date means we checked the listing on that date — it is not a promise that a program is still operating, still funded, accepting applications, or that you or anyone else will qualify. Program rules, contacts, deadlines, waitlists and locations change without notice. Always confirm eligibility, availability and requirements directly with the organization before relying on anything you read here.

We also do not guarantee that this site will be available, uninterrupted or error-free at any given moment. Do not rely on this site in an emergency: if someone is in immediate danger, call 911 or your local emergency number.

Not professional advice

Nothing here is legal, medical, financial or other professional advice, and using this site does not create a professional relationship of any kind.

Intellectual property

Help Foster Youth’s name, butterfly mark, page text, layout and design belong to Help Foster Youth. Organization names, logos and descriptions belong to their respective owners. You may share and link to pages for personal, educational or community purposes with attribution; please do not copy the site wholesale or present it as your own.

Clara Jean Doll™ is a trademark of Clara Jean LaCelle. A trademark application is in process; the mark is not yet federally registered.

Appropriate use

Please do not:

use the site to harass, endanger or exploit any child, youth or family;
misrepresent an organization, or submit false or misleading information;
scrape, bulk-harvest or resell listings, or overload the site;
attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site or its systems;
use the site for anything unlawful.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the site is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, and Help Foster Youth and its volunteers are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, reliance on its information, or your dealings with any listed organization.

Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated as the site develops. Continued use after an update means you accept the current version.

Preliminary and not attorney-approved. These terms will receive legal review before a formal public launch, and before donations, accounts, organization submissions, or scholarship or payment features are activated. None of those features are active today.
