Give the Gift of Hope
Help place a copy of Take A Walk With Me and a Clara Jean Doll™ into the hands of a foster youth as a reminder to hold onto hope.
This is a mission-focused way to provide a Gift of Hope for a girl in foster care — not a store. Providing or sponsoring a Gift of Hope is not described here as a charitable donation.
A Doll Made With Love
The Clara Jean Doll™ is a replica of a precious doll that Clara’s mother, Bonnie Jean, made by hand for her while Clara was a little girl in foster care and Bonnie was incarcerated.
Separated from her daughter, Bonnie made a homemade doll and sent it to Clara as a tangible reminder of a mother’s love during an incredibly difficult time.
Today, the Clara Jean Doll™ carries that story forward. Each foster girl who receives a Gift of Hope receives a replica inspired by that original childhood doll, along with Take A Walk With Me.
Our hope is that when she holds her Clara Jean Doll™, she will be reminded that she is seen, she is valued, she is loved, and her story is not over. Whatever she may be walking through today, there is still hope for her future.
THE MEMOIR
About Take A Walk With Me
Take A Walk With Me is Clara’s true story of growing up in the foster care system, moving through multiple foster homes, aging out of care, and experiencing homelessness as a young adult.
It is also a story of what came after, of hope, faith, perseverance, and a life that could not have been imagined during those difficult childhood years.
Paired with the Clara Jean Doll™, the memoir carries a message to the foster girl receiving it: where you are today is not where your story has to end. There is hope for your future.
The doll gives her something to hold. The book gives her a story of hope.Together they tell her:
Her story is not over.
