Our mission

Help Foster Youth is a free, anonymous resource directory for current and former foster youth — and for the adults who want to help them. A young person types their ZIP code and sees only verified help that actually serves their area. No account. No email. No cost. We never provide services ourselves; we refer to the organizations that do.

The numbers

  • 6,311

verified listings, each checked against the organization's own official page

  • 33,791

ZIP codes covered by ZIP-first local search

  • 50 + DC

state pages with county agency listings and confirmed phone numbers

  • 4,459

outside links re-tested — every genuinely dead one replaced

  • 15

new laws across 10 states, in plain language, with sponsors credited

  • 0

accounts, logins, email sign-ups or AI chat features — ever

How it works

  • ZIP-first, not national blastA young person types their ZIP code and sees only verified help that actually serves their area — 7,926 county-level service areas behind the results.
  • Privacy by designNo accounts, no logins, no registration, no email capture, no advertising, no cross-site trackers, no AI chat. Nothing a young person types ever leaves the page except a ZIP code.
  • Always a referral, never a serviceCrisis buttons dial 911, 988 and the domestic violence, trafficking, runaway and text lines — someone else's number, every time. We never run a crisis line, chat or counseling.
  • Laws in plain languageEvery law card shows what it does, who sponsored it, where to file a complaint if it isn't followed, and a link to the legislature's own page.
  • Two doors, one search boxFoster youth see resources FOR them; adults see ways TO HELP. The two lists never mix. Former foster youth 26+ and youth who aged out get their own dedicated pages.
