HEALTH COVERAGE

Keep Your Health Coverage Until Age 26

If you aged out of Michigan foster care, you can keep Medicaid health coverage through age 26 under Foster Care Transitional Medicaid. That includes medical, dental and mental health care while you are getting established on your own.

Do you qualify?

Are you under 26 years old?

Do you live in Michigan now?

Were you in foster care on your 18th birthday or later?

Before you apply

  • Have your date of birth and a Michigan address ready.
  • Bring anything showing you were in foster care at 18 or older — a court letter, a case number, or a caseworker’s contact. Missing paperwork should not stop you from applying.
  • Watch your mail and phone for follow-up questions.
