Washington Youth: Education Transition Planning

SETuP supports high-school or GED students ages 13–21 in Washington foster care or experiencing homelessness without a parent or guardian. Services include education planning, resource connections and coordination with youth, caregivers, schools and social workers—not caregiver cash assistance or guaranteed college funding.

• Seattle YMCA: King County.
• Pierce County Alliance: Pierce, Kitsap counties.
• Community Youth Services: Clallam, Jefferson, Mason, Grays Harbor, Thurston, Lewis, Pacific, Wahkiakum, Cowlitz, Skamania, Clark counties.
• Volunteers of America: Spokane, Stevens, Lincoln, Adams, Whitman counties.
• Catholic Child and Family Services: Yakima, Kittitas, Klickitat, Benton, Franklin, Walla Walla counties.

Contact the listed provider to confirm current intake, fees and placement requirements; no fee or immediate availability is confirmed. Community Youth Services also requires that youth not receive similar Treehouse services and accepts referrals through its own form. Submit private student details only to the provider, never here.

AmeriCorps Education Award

AmeriCorps is open to anyone who qualifies, not only foster youth. After you finish an approved term of service, you can earn an education award for college costs or qualified student loans. For positions approved October 2026 to September 2027, a full-time term (1,700 hours) earns $7,395, and shorter terms earn less. You have seven years to use it.
