This page explains what this site saves on the device you use to visit it, and what it does not save. Short answer: we keep only your own choices, on your own phone or computer, and we do not use anything that follows you around the internet.

What this site saves on your device

  • One small notice of its own. When you accept the welcome notice, we save that choice so the notice is not shown again on every visit. It lasts about 13 months and is used for nothing else.
  • Your cart. If you add a Gift of Hope book, the cart is kept in your browser so it is still there when you come back.
  • Your accessibility settings. Text size, high contrast, easy-to-read font, underlined links and stopped movement are saved in your browser so the site looks the way you set it every time.
  • Your application tracker progress, if you choose to use it.

All of this stays on your device. None of it is sent to us, and none of it identifies you to anyone else.

What this site does not use

  • No advertising cookies and no cookies from other companies.
  • No Google Analytics and no other visitor-analytics service.
  • No tracking pixels, web beacons or session recordings.
  • No advertising networks, retargeting or cross-site tracking.
  • No social-media tracking tools or share buttons that track you.

Because we do not use tracking cookies, this site does not show a cookie banner asking you to accept anything. The welcome notice you see is about the site’s terms of use, not about tracking.

Outside services

Two places outside our control involve your browser:

  • Gift of Hope checkout. When you buy a book, you are sent to Shopify’s own secure checkout. Shopify sets the cookies it needs to run that checkout. Their practices are described in the Shopify Privacy Policy, not this one.
  • The typefaces the site uses. The site’s fonts are delivered by Google’s font server. That request sends your internet address to Google, the same way loading any picture from another website does. Google does not set a tracking cookie on this site for it, and we do not send Google any information about who you are or what you searched.

Your choices

Your browser settings let you view, block or delete what a website has saved. If you clear your browser data on this site, you will lose your cart, your accessibility settings and any tracker progress, and the welcome notice will appear again. Nothing else is affected, and nothing you do here is remembered anywhere else.
